Yes. Every cut is professionally flash-frozen, packaged, vacuum-sealed, and labeled for easy storage and identification. This keeps your meat fresh in the freezer and prevents freezer burn.
Animals aren’t cookie-cutter. Cuts like roasts, ribs, or oxtail naturally vary in size, so we group them into weight ranges (e.g., 2–3 lb or 3–4 lb) and price the package accordingly. Standard items (like our 1 lb ground beef packs) are uniform, so we list those per pound (e.g., $15 per lb = $15 per pack).
Details:
Nature-made variation: Bone-in and whole-muscle cuts come in different sizes, so a “one-size” price isn’t fair or accurate. Weight ranges keep pricing honest.
How range pricing works: When you pick, say, a 2–3 lb band, you’re selecting a package that falls in that range. The package price reflects the same per-lb math we use across the board; we simply show it as a package price to make online checkout simple and transparent.
When you’ll see per-lb pricing: Items that are packed to an exact weight—like 1 lb ground beef or sausage—are listed at $/lb, so a 1 lb pack at $15/lb is $15.
No surprises: Whether it’s listed “per lb” or by a weight range, you’re paying for the weight you receive. If a cut doesn’t land in the band you chose, we’ll move it to the correct band or offer another option.
Honor Store vs. online: In our self-serve Honor Store, each package is stickered with its exact weight and prices are listed in the store. Online, ranges help you choose the size you want and help us estimate shipping weight and dry ice—without constant price changes.
Right now, we offer seasonal and specialty boxes (like the Rancher's Choice Box or Labor Day Box). A subscription program is something we’re planning for the future, so stay tuned! Shop our boxes here.

Big Horn Mountain Farms sells pasture-raised Wagyu-Angus beef raised in Wyoming, with options to shop by the cut, reserve bulk beef, or visit the self-serve Honor Store (680 French Creek Rd., Buffalo, WY).
The Honor Store is Big Horn Mountain Farms’ self-serve farm store where customers can shop ranch-raised beef and pork locally.

Pasture-raised beef generally refers to cattle raised with meaningful time on pasture rather than being raised only in confined systems. United States Department of Agriculture labeling guidance requires animal-raising claims to be supported by documentation, and recent guidance has clarified that “pasture-raised” claims should be tied to animals spending the majority of their lives on pasture, with pasture meaning land rooted in grasses or other vegetative cover.
At Big Horn Mountain Farms, our beef is best described as pasture-based or pasture-fed, raised with seasonal care suited to Wyoming. That is not always the same thing as “100% grass-fed” or “grass-finished.” Those are separate label claims, and we believe in being clear instead of using terms that may confuse customers.
For customers searching “pasture-raised beef in Buffalo, Wyoming,” the better question is: do you know where the animal was raised, how it was cared for, and who you are buying from?
Heritage pork is raised from older-style pig breeds that are often valued for flavor, fat quality, adaptability, and traditional pork character. At Big Horn Mountain Farms, our heritage pork comes from Mangalitsa × Old Spot genetics.
Mangalitsa, also called Mangalitza or Mangalica, is a historic lard-type pig breed known for a woolly coat and high intramuscular fat. Oklahoma State University notes that Mangalitza meat is high in intramuscular fat, making it juicier and more flavorful than many modern breeds.
The British Pig Association also describes Mangalitza meat as well marbled, tastier, and less dry than meat from more modern breeds.
Gloucestershire Old Spots, often called Old Spots, are a heritage pig breed known for outdoor hardiness, calm temperament, and traditional meat and lard use. The Livestock Conservancy lists Old Spots as a heritage pig used for meat and lard/back fat, and notes that the breed has long been associated with small farms and outdoor rearing conditions.
Heritage pork is often about taste. Pork chops, ribs, roasts, bacon, hocks, sausage, bratwurst, and pork shoulder can all benefit from the richer fat and deeper flavor heritage breeds are known for.
The American Wagyu Association describes Wagyu as prized for exceptional marbling, tenderness, and flavor.
Wagyu × Angus beef offers a practical premium balance. Wagyu genetics support marbling and eating quality, while Angus influence brings a familiar beef flavor and
structure that many American steak buyers already know and enjoy.
For home cooks, that means Wagyu-Angus beef can be especially appealing for steaks, roasts, ground beef, brisket, ribs, and slow-cooked cuts. It is premium beef without needing to feel overly complicated.
Big Horn Mountain Farms beef is pasture-based and raised, no antibiotics, and no added hormones.
Individual cuts are grain-finished with non-GMO feed.
If purchasing bulk, we offer grass-finished or grain-finished options.
If you choose grass-finished, your beef has eaten 100% Wyoming pasture, which creates a more earthy flavor compared to grain-finished beef.
Our USDA products are processed at Western Heritage Meat Company in Sheridan, WY.
If you are local to Buffalo, WY and interested in using another processor, we are happy to accommodate your request.
