A no-fuss ground beef dinner for cold, busy nights
Winter cooking doesn’t need to be complicated to be good.
This Simple Winter Beef Skillet is one of our most relied-on meals during the colder months — especially on nights when you want something filling and nourishing without pulling out a cookbook or making an extra grocery run.
It’s built around quality ground beef, pantry staples, and whatever vegetables you already have on hand. No fancy ingredients. No extra steps. Just real food that feeds you now and sets you up for tomorrow.
Why This Recipe Works in Winter
Winter meals should do more than just taste good — they should carry you through the day. This skillet checks all the boxes:
Protein-forward to keep you full and steady
Flexible based on what’s already in your fridge
Leftover-friendly for easy lunches or second dinners
Comforting, without being heavy or complicated
It’s the kind of recipe that fits real life.

Simple Winter Beef Skillet
Serves: 4
Time: 25–30 minutes
Equipment: Large skillet or cast-iron pan
Ingredients
1 lb ground beef
1 onion, diced
1–2 cloves garlic, minced
Salt and black pepper, to taste
Optional add-ins (use what you have):
Diced potatoes or sweet potatoes
Bell peppers, carrots, or frozen vegetables
Cooked rice or grains
Instructions
Heat a large skillet over medium heat. Add ground beef and cook until browned.
Add diced onion and garlic. Cook until softened and fragrant.
Season generously with salt and pepper.
Stir in any optional vegetables or starches and cook until tender.
Serve as-is, over rice or potatoes, or portion out for leftovers.
That’s it. No extra steps, no special timing — just a solid, satisfying winter meal.
Make It Once, Eat It Twice
This skillet is intentionally simple so it can work harder for you later in the week. Leftovers reheat beautifully and can be used in:
Bowls with rice or potatoes
Quick wraps or tacos
Breakfast hashes with eggs
Straight from the pan (no judgment)
This is exactly why we love keeping ground beef stocked in the freezer — it adapts to whatever the week throws at you.
A Note on Ingredients
When a recipe has very few ingredients, quality matters.
We raise our Wagyu × Angus beef for flavor, balance, and versatility — the kind of beef that doesn’t need heavy seasoning or complicated preparation to shine. Ground beef is often overlooked, but it’s one of the most useful and reliable cuts you can have on hand year-round.
