Where Quality Begins
At Big Horn Mountain Farms, “premium” isn’t a label — it’s a promise. Every steak, chop, and roast starts with natural, pasture-based care that honors both the land and the animals.
Our herds roam the Big Horn Mountain foothills, grazing on nutrient-rich grasses and legumes. The clean air, open space, and low-stress environment lead to healthier animals — and better-tasting meat.
What “Natural Practices” Really Mean
We never rely on shortcuts. Our livestock are:
Raised on open pasture with room to roam and root.
Never given routine antibiotics or growth hormones.
Handled gently and calmly to minimize stress before processing.
Fed balanced, locally sourced grain blends (for beef) or natural forage and root vegetables (for pork).
These practices don’t just sound good — they taste good. Stress affects meat texture and flavor, so a calm animal produces tender, flavorful cuts every time.
Understanding the Labels
Many customers ask about terms like Prime, Choice, Certified Angus, and Pasture-Raised. Here’s what matters most:
Certified Angus Beef®: Indicates superior marbling and consistency.
USDA Prime & Choice: Official grading based on tenderness, juiciness, and marbling.
Pasture-Raised: The animal lived part (or all) of its life grazing freely outdoors.
At Big Horn Mountain Farms, we meet — and often exceed — these standards by focusing on welfare, quality, and transparency.
Transparency Builds Trust
When you buy from local ranchers, you can see where your food comes from. You can drive by the pastures, talk to the people who feed the animals, and trust that your purchase supports ethical, sustainable Wyoming agriculture.
