Cubed steak might not be fancy, but it’s one of the best comfort foods you’ll ever put on the table. At Big Horn Mountain Farms, our pasture-raised Wagyu-Angus beef takes this humble cut and turns it into a tender, flavorful dish that feels like home.
Cubed steak is mechanically tenderized, which makes it perfect for quick frying and smothering in gravy.
Recipe: Country-Style Cubed Steak with Onion Gravy
Ingredients:
4 Big Horn Mountain Farms Cubed Steaks
1 cup flour
1 tsp salt
½ tsp black pepper
1 tsp paprika
4 tbsp vegetable oil (or beef tallow)
1 large onion, sliced
2 cups beef broth
2 tbsp butter
Instructions:
Mix flour, salt, pepper, and paprika in a shallow dish. Dredge steaks in seasoned flour, shaking off excess.
Heat oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Cook steaks 3–4 minutes per side until golden brown. Remove and set aside.
In the same skillet, add sliced onions and cook until softened. Stir in 2 tbsp flour from dredging mix, then whisk in beef broth.
Add butter, reduce heat, and simmer until gravy thickens.
Return steaks to skillet, spoon gravy over the top, cover, and simmer 10 minutes.
✨ Farm Tip: For extra comfort, serve with mashed potatoes and a side of green beans.

Our pasture-raised beef brings out the best in even the most down-to-earth recipes. Simple ingredients, slow living, and delicious flavor — that’s what Big Horn Mountain Farms is all about.
